PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The University of Pittsburgh’s women’s tennis team fell 7-0 to Rutgers University today at the Busch Tennis Bubble.
The Panthers (6-4, 2-3 Big East) loss to Rutgers (9-5, 3-1 Big East) puts the all-time series record at 15-0 in favor of the Scarlet Knights. Despite the overall score, Pitt’s individual score shows it put up the good fight with number one doubles almost clenching the only win for the Panthers.
“Adams and Benic played very well and took their opponents to a breaker,” said head coach George Dieffenbach. “Aprodu and Parbhu also fought hard in defeat.”
With one more Big East team to face this weekend, Pitt will travel on to meet the Seton Hall Pirates tomorrow afternoon. Match time is set for 4 p.m. in Montclair, N.J.
“We will learn from the loss, regroup and give out best tomorrow at Seton Hall,” said Dieffenbach.
