
Dukes Down Panthers 5-2 in City Match

PITTSBURGH — The University of Pittsburgh tennis team dropped the 34th annual City Match against Duquesne University 5-2, here today at The Club in Monroeville, Pa.
The Dukes grabbed the one-point lead heading into singles action after sweeping all three doubles matches to start the day.
Pitt evened the score following Elizabeth Adam’s 6-2, 6-4 win over Ana Mungo in No. 1 singles action, but Duquesne would answer right back, taking four straight matches to clinch its second consecutive win over the Panthers.
Karma Parbhu needed an extra set at No. 6 singles, but was able to walk away with the hard-fought win, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 over Stephanie Novakowski.
Pitt hits the road for three Big East Conference matches this weekend, starting with a 1 p.m. match at Villanova on Friday, March 26. The Panthers will then trek to Rutgers on Saturday, March 27, and Seton Hall on Sunday, March 28.
