Borza And Adams Advance To Finals

WEST POINT, N.Y.--Junior Kristy Borza and freshman Elizabeth Adams of Pitt's women's tennis team advance to the finals of the Women's Eastern Collegiate Invitational held at Army, after another successful 2-0 day of action.
After dropping the first set of the day 3-6, Borza (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) won the next two sets 7-5 and 10-4 for a win over Long Island's Seima Babic.
Then in the semifinals, she defeated FDU's Julia Korsunova. As in the earlier match, Borza dropped the first set (3-6) before rebounding with a 7-5 win in the second set and then didn't give up a point in the tiebreaker, 10-0. She meets Denise Harijanto of Buffalo in the finals.
In flight C singles, Adams (Reading, Pa./Wilson) won a 6-3, 6-0 match over Jessica DeCarlos of FDU. Next, she defeated West Virginia's Gabrielle Blaskovicova with scores of 6-1 & 6-0. Adams faces Diana Popescu of Buffalo in the finals.
Sophomore Sabrina Visram (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) won an 8-5 pro set over Christie Gatlelaro in the flight B singles consolation. Later she lost to Sam Inacker of Colgate, 9-7.
Day three of the Women's Eastern Collegiate Invitational continues with the final round of action on Sunday.
