TAMPA, Fla.--Despite a singles win for freshman Kristy Borza on the second day of the Big East Tournament, the University of Pittsburgh women's tennis team fell 4-2 to Seton Hall at the USF Tennis Courts, this afternoon.

Playing in the No. 1 slot, Borza (Beaver , Pa./Beaver Area) defeated her opponent in two sets in front of a home-based fan club. Borza is now 25-7 on the season and is one win shy of tying the all-time record for singles victories in a season, held by Maria Paris (1979-80).

Winning the second point for Pitt was junior Annie Davies (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg), who also won in two sets.

The Panthers lost all three doubles matches but battled to the end for the second day in a row. The most exciting bout was in the No. 2 doubles, where Davies paired with senior Becky Emmers (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) and played to a nail-biting 9-7 finish.

The team opened the math with a 5-2 lead, but Emmers and Davies then slipped to a 7-5 score before tying the match at seven apiece.

The Panthers play Marquette at 3 p.m. tomorrow for an 11^th-place finish in the conference.
