Ann Marie Porada joined the University of Pittsburgh Department of Athletics in December of 2009 as the athletic trainer for women’s basketball. After nine seasons with the women’s basketball team and supervisor for cheer and dance, she transitioned to women’s soccer and supervising softball.
During her time at Pitt, Porada has been responsible for the planning and scheduling of physicals, cardiac screening, impact testing and sickle screening for the student-athletes. Additionally, she has worked with the Director of Sports Camps to provide medical coverage for all the University’s camps.
Prior arriving at Pitt, Porada spent four years in the Bronx working at Fordham University, with the last two years serving as associate head athletic trainer. She was responsible for women’s soccer, women’s basketball, tennis and cheerleading as well as spring football.
Before arriving at Fordham in 2006, Porada spent one year at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. She was responsible for baseball and assisted with coverage of men’s and women’s lacrosse.
Following graduation in 2004, Porada was hired by her alma mater, Longwood University, and worked for one year with women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country and track as well as baseball.
Porada graduated from Longwood with a degree in physical education and a concentration in athletic training. She completed her graduate degree from California University of Pennsylvania in July of 2006.
A native of Virginia, Porada resides in Munhall, Pa.
Beyond the Bio
What do you love most about the University of Pittsburgh?
The family atmosphere and the history. It is especially important to me considering that my father, uncle and cousins all attended Pitt.
What do you love most about working in athletics?
Being with the student-athletes day in and day out, experiencing the wins and the losses and knowing each and every day they are growing stronger as a person.
