Pitt Hosts Kent State Wednesday Night

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt Panthers (28-14, 10-11 ACC) host Kent State (31-11, 17-7 MAC) on Wednesday evening at Charles L. Cost Field.
The Panthers beat the Golden Flashes on the road, 13-4, in their matchup earlier this season.
Top of the Order
• The Panthers are coming off of a perfect 4-0 stretch last week where they won four-consecutive games over top-15 teams. Pitt began the week with a 23-1 trashing of No. 12 West Virginia on the road before sweeping No. 10 Virginia at home.
• Pitt's sweep over No. 10 ranked Virginia was their first over the Cavaliers in program history and their first over a top-10 team since 2021.
• The Oakland Lumber Company is open for business and Pitt's offense is one of the best in the country. They lead the nation in base on balls (306), rank second in OBP (.455) and scoring (9.5), fourth in SLG (.574), fifth in home runs per game (2.05), sixth in runs scored (401) and ninth in home runs (86) and batting average (.321).
• The Panther offense set the program record for home runs in a single season with 86 this year. They have driven in 161 runs via the long ball, hitting seven grand slams and eighteen three-run home runs this year. Pitt's previous home run mark was 79 in 2022.
• SS Caden Dulin was named as a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award last week. He is batting .364 with 51 runs scored, 41 RBI, 11 doubles, 11 home runs and a team-leading 59 hits.
• OF Lorenzo Carrier ranks third in the country in walks (49), walks/game (1.17), OBP (.563) and SLG (.843) while ranking fourteenth in RBI (57) and batting average (.400). He earned multiple midseason First Team All-America honors and was named to the Golden Spikes Award and Baseball America Player of the Year Midseason Watch Lists.
• Pitt leads the entire country in walks this season with 306. Lorenzo Carrier's 49 free passes lead the ACC and rank third in the nation. The Panthers worked a season-high 15 walks in last Tuesday's win at no. 12 West Virginia.
• Pitt's 23 runs in the Backyard Brawl last Tuesday were their second-most against West Virginia, and the second most in the history of the Backyard Brawl.
