
Pitt Women's Soccer Host Bucknell on Senior Day

PITTSBURGH - The Pitt women's soccer team will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 7 as the Panthers (4-2-1) wrap up non-conference play against Bucknell (2-4-0) at Ambrose Urbanic Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Sunday's contest will also honor Pitt's nine seniors prior to kickoff. The Senior Day ceremony will take place on the field beginning at 12:45 p.m.
THE OPENING KICK
•The Panthers look for the victory after snapping their two-game losing streak with a draw against Cincinnati on Thursday night. Pitt found an early goal to take the lead, but the Bearcats scored an equalizer heading into the break. Neither team could break through in the second frame.
•Pitt welcomes Bucknell to Ambrose holding a 4-2 advantage in the series. The two teams last met in August of 2024, where the Panthers secured a 5-1 victory. Lola Abraham tallied an assist in the matchup.
• Senior Margaret Wilde earned her first starting nod of her career against Cincinnati, finding the back of the net for the Panthers' only brace.
•Pitt has had five different goal scorers with Katie Ellermeyer (4), Lola Abraham (2), Magaret Wilde (2), Magali Gagne, and Sofia Doheny each finding the back of the net.
•Sophomore Lola Abraham has looked strong in her return to the lineup after missing the second half of last season with a knee injury. She has scored goals two goals, while playing 70 or more minutes in all six matches.
•Junior captain Olivia Lee has played the full 90 minutes in all seven games this season and in 14 of the Panthers' past 17 matches dating back to last season.
THE OPPOSITION
•Bucknell is 2-4 on the season, coming off a 4-1 victory over Saint Francis.
•The Bearcats also faced Monmouth in non-conference play, falling 3-2 on Aug. 21 to the Hawks. Pitt faced Monmouth in their first road challenge of the season, returning with a 3-1 win.
•Henna Andican leads the offense for the Bison, holding four braces and one assist on the season. Also leading Bucknell is Katie Connell with two goals. Both players have started all six matches for the Bison.
