PITTSBURGH - The Pitt women's soccer team (4-2-1) played to a 1-1 draw on Thursday night against Cincinnati (2-2-3) at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
The Panthers took the lead in the ninth minute off a breakaway from freshman Katie Ellermeyer when a cross from junior defender Sage Stelzer found the head of senior forward Margaret Wilde on the back post for the finish. With the goal Wilde tallies her second goal of the season in her first career start.
Cincinnati leveled the score in the 28th minute with a give-and-go behind the backline for an open shot on the net. The two teams entered the break even at one.
Both teams exchanged chances, including a shot from Wilde which hit the crossbar early in the second frame. A tackle from redshirt-junior goalkeeper Abby Reisz at the top of the box helped the Panthers keep the score level. Reisz tallied her third consecutive match with 3+ saves.
Pitt pushed late with three chances in the final 10 minutes of play but were unable to find a shot on goal for the game-winner. The Bearcats outshot the Panthers 11-5 on the night.
