Summer Ball Commences for the Panthers

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt Panthers have twelve student-athletes playing in collegiate summer ball leagues this summer.
The twelve Panthers span across seven leagues and eight different states. Two of which will be playing in what is arguably the premier collegiate summer league, the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Sebastian Pisacreta will play in the Cape Cod League for the first time in his career while Ryan Reed makes his second-consecutive stint in "The Cape". Reed will throw for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox this summer as his battery mate, Pisacreta, will play for the Orleans Firebirds.
Three more Panthers are headed to compete in the MLB Draft League. Former WPIAL standouts, Drew Lafferty and Noah Czajkowski, will play together on the Mahoning Valley Scrappers while Lorenzo Carrier heads to the middle of the state to play for the State College Spikes.
After finishing their freshman campaigns, Julian Irizarry and Antonio "TJ" Socarras head back to their home state of Florida to play in the Florida Collegiate Summer League for the Leesburg Lightning.
Pitt has two representatives in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League in Jake Kendro and Antonio Doganiero. Kendro, who has started in 87 games for the Panthers over the last two years, will play for the Jamestown Tarp Skunks. Left hander Antonio Doganiero is pitching for the Boonville Lumberjacks this summer.
Infielder Gavin Miller is the sole Panther in the Cal Ripkin Sr. Collegiate Baseball League where he is playing for the Alexandria Aces. Right-handed pitcher Kayden Faulcon will spend the summer in the New England Collegiate Baseball League with the Ocean State Waves.
Minnesota native Jackson Cooke goes home for the summer to play in the Northwoods League for the St. Cloud Rox in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
