
Luke Miller Collects 5K Crown at Larry Ellis Invitational

PRINCETON – Senior Luke Miller emptied the tank in the final 400-meter lap of the 5,000-meter race to produce a 59.50 split to come from behind and earn the victory at the Larry Ellis Invitational. Miller was the only athlete in the field to finish with a time under 14 minutes in the event, as he crossed the finish line in 13:58.84, a season's best. Freshman Thomas McMahon earned fourth place in 14:10.98.
Seniors Peyton Geehrer and Quintin Gatons found themselves on the podium of the men's 10,000-meter run. Geehrer worked his way up from eighth to second with a time of 30:47.28. Gatons clocked in a time of 30:54.79 for third place in his first collegiate 10,000-meter race.
In the men's 1500-meter race, Luke Simpson finished fifth in 3:43.91. It was a season's best for Simpson, who was just shy of his personal best time of 3:43.79.
Competing in the Mike Brady 1500-meter race, Finn Walsh earned sixth for his speed of 3:42.91. It was a season's best for Walsh as well as he was slightly off of his personal best 3:42.56.
The Panthers had three women competing in the women's 1500-meter race. Ellen Baker and Camy Kiser, who competed in separate heats, both recorded a time of 4:31.31. Officially, Baker had the edge with a time of 4:31.301 compared to Kiser's 4:31.307. Baker notched a personal best and finished in 28th place. Kiser followed in 29th. Freshman Sienna Miller produced a time of 4:32.71 for 31st place overall.
