Panthers Lose Rubber Match in Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Pitt dropped their rubber match at Virginia, 18-0, on Sunday afternoon.
Ryan Zuckerman collected his fifth hit of the weekend with a single in the fifth inning. He had two hits in each of Pitt's games yesterday.
Caden Dulin singled in the sixth and has now recorded a hit in ten of Pitt's last eleven games. Keeton Burroughs, who pinch-hit in the top of the seventh inning, legged out an infield single.
Ethan Firoved surrendered just one hit and one earned run over 1.2 innings in relief on Sunday. Sam Bryan and Kayden Faulcon each allowed just two hits and one run in their relief appearances. Bryan tossed two innings while Faulcon threw one.
Virginia's offense came out of the gates hot and scored runs in each of the first four innings, using the long ball three times over that stretch. They added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Panthers went on to fall in the series finale, 18-0.
Up Next
Pitt heads to Kent State this Tuesday, April 15, for a 6 PM midweek matchup at Schoonover Stadium. The Panthers will have a quick turnaround with their weekend series at Duke beginning Thursday, April 17.
