
Two Panthers Named by Perfect Game as ‘Top Fresh Arrivals on Campus’

PITTSBURGH – Outfielder Mason Ligenza and infielder Jordan Jacob were each named to Perfect Game's "Top 500 Fresh Arrivals on Campus" list this week.
Ligenza was the highest Panther on the list, clocking in as the 67th ranked incoming freshman. Jacob, ranked 102nd by Perfect Game, nearly cracked the top 100.
The ranking by Perfect Game showcases the top true freshmen that can make an instant impact in college baseball during the 2026 season. Ligenza and Jacob are among the top ranked incoming freshmen in all of the country.
Mason Ligenza, a 6'6" left-handed hitting outfielder, was selected in the 6th round (195th overall) of the 2025 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is the highest drafted prospect in Pitt program history. Throughout his high school career, he hit .415 with 103 hits, 102 runs, 59 RBIs, 18 doubles, 5 triples and 20 home runs.
Jordan Jacob was ranked as the no. 1 overall player in Canada by Perfect Game and the no. 10 third baseman in the United States. Baseball Buzz rated him as the top incoming freshman from Canada in 2026.
The Panthers open up their fall schedule with a doubleheader against Cincinnati at Charles L. Cost Field on October 11th. Their first team practice of the fall is next Monday, September 22nd.
