CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Pitt Lacrosse will look to bounce back from last weekend's tough loss to No. 8 Syracuse as they travel to south to meet the No. 12 Virginia Cavaliers at Klockner Stadium Saturday. The conference contest is set for a 3 PM start.
Virginia has defeated the Panthers in each of the three previous meetings in the series history, including last year's 19-10 win. Sydney Naylor matched a career high with five goals in the game and Jenna Hendrickson added a pair to lead the Pitt attack.
This season, the Panthers are coming off of an ACC loss on March 15 to then No. 8 Syracuse by a score of 17-11. Much of the matchup was back and forth until the Orange pulled away late in the fourth quarter. Hendrickson scored four goals with an assist and Kaitlyn Giandonato added four scores of her own on the offensive side. Goalie Molly Cain had a career day with 14 saves, the most she's made in a single game. Avery Moon contributed four assists and now has 28 in her career, the most by a Panther in program history.
The Cavaliers are 6-3 in 2025 and 2-2 in conference play. Virginia has won two ranked games in a row, defeating No. 13 Duke (16-11) and No. 14 JMU (14-11). Two Cavaliers have recorded over 30 points to this point, with Madison Alaimo at 36 points (11 goals, 25 assists) and Jenna Dinardo at 35 points (25 goals, 10 assists). Kate Galica has been strong on the draw, already grabbing 88 on the year. Goalie Mel Josephson has made 63 saves in the net, good for a .409 save percentage.
