Panthers Host NC State in ACC Home Opener

PITTSBURGH - Pitt begins their home ACC slate as they host NC State for a three-game set at Charles L. Cost Field.
The Wolfpack last visited the Panthers in May of 2021.
In Pitt's last three games, they are 3-0 and have combined for 45 runs, 43 hits with eight home runs. Pitt's offense has scored at least 16 runs in each of their last two games.
Notes
•First baseman Luke Cantwell has had four three-hit games in Pitt's last six contests. During that span, he is hitting .600 with 15 hits, 20 total bases, seven RBIs and five doubles while slugging .800.
•LHP Ethan Firoved is coming off of a heroic performance on Sunday at Georgia Tech where he fired 5.1 innings in relief, allowing just one earned run and striking out nine. In seven appearances this year, Firoved has a 1.19 ERA with four saves, one win and 31 strikeouts.
•Sophomore third baseman Ryan Zuckerman had the third multi-homer game of his career, and second this season, vs. Akron on Tuesday. He leads the team in home runs (7), runs scored (23), RBIs (24) and slugging percentage (.709). He is second in hits (30) and doubles (10).
•This season, Pitt has four comeback victories when trailing in the sixth inning or later. In last Sunday's game at Georgia Tech, the Panthers erased a six-run deficit to take the series finale.
•Pitt's defense has turned 16 double plays in their 20 games this season. They rank second in the ACC.
• The Panthers' offense ranks 2nd in the ACC in hit by pitches and 8th in the base on balls.
•The Panthers added 22 newcomers to campus for the 2025 season. Among them are 16 transfers and 6 freshmen. Per 64Analytics, the Panthers landed a top- 20 transfer portal recruiting class.
