
Panthers Prep for Double Midweek

PITTSBURGH - Pitt begins their five-game home stand with midweek games against Akron and Kent State on Tuesday and Wednesday at 3 PM.
Pitt earned home wins against both of these programs last season. Beating Akron 13-3 (8inn.) and Kent State 12-8.
Notes
• This season, Pitt has four comeback victories when trailing in the sixth inning or later. In last Sunday's game at Georgia Tech, the Panthers erased a six-run deficit to take the series finale.
• First baseman Luke Cantwell had three three-hit games last week for the Panthers. He is hitting.588 with 10 hits, 14 total bases, five RBIs and four doubles while slugging .824 in his last four games. Cantwell is hitting .406 with 28 hits, 16 RBI, 10 doubles and is fourth in the ACC in walks with 20.
• LHP Ethan Firoved is coming off of a heroic performance on Sunday at Georgia Tech where he fired 5.1 innings in relief, allowing just one earned run and striking out nine. In seven appearances this year, Firoved has a 1.19 ERA with four saves, one win and 31 strikeouts.
• Sophomore third baseman Ryan Zuckerman's three-run home run helped kickstart Pitt's six-run comeback victory on Sunday. He leads the team in home runs (5), runs scored (18), RBIs (20) and slugging percentage (.636). He is second in doubles (9) and third in hits (25).
• Pitt's defense has turned 16 double plays in their 18 games this season. They rank second in the ACC.
• The Panthers' offense ranks 3rd in the ACC in hit by pitches and 8th in the base on balls.
• The Panthers added 22 newcomers to campus for the 2025 season. Among them are 16 transfers and 6 freshmen. Per 64Analytics, the Panthers landed a top- 20 transfer portal recruiting class.
