PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team returns to action for the second game of a seven game homestand, facing Mount St. Mary's Saturday at 1 p.m. inside of the Petersen Events Center.

The Opening Tip

Pitt dropped their season opener to Drexel by a score of 68-60.
The Panthers were led by Mikayla Johnson with 19 points.
Fatima Diakhate paced the Panthers on the boards with 8 rebounds, 5 of which were offensive.
Angel Jones joined Johnson in double figures with 10 points on 5-of-12 shooting.
Jones, Diakhate (7 points) and Carla Viegas (6 points) scored their first baskets as Panthers after transferring in.
Nylah Wilson, Theresa Hagans Jr., and Megan Hollingsworth earned their first collegiate baskets. Wilson contributed 8 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal off of the bench. Hagans finished with 4 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist. Hollingsworth added 2 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist in the start.
Pitt's depth was highlighted as the bench accounted for 22 points.

Series History

Saturday will be the tenth all-time meeting between the Panthers and the Mountaineers.
A win would mark the Panthers' tenth straight victory over Mount St. Mary's.

Scouting the Mountaineers

In 2024-25, the Mountaineers women's basketball team went 15-16 and 12-8 in conference play.
They opened up the 2025-26 season with a road loss to #24 Richmond, 83-49.
