Pitt to Host Scranton in First Ever Meeting Sunday

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team will face Division III Scranton for the first time in program history on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Petersen Events Center. The game will be aired on ACCNX.

The Opening Tip
- The Pitt women's basketball team pulled out a 56-54 victory over Cornell on Tuesday night inside the Petersen Events Center.
- The Panthers secured their third-straight win over Cornell, remaining undefeated against the Big Red.
- Fatima Diakhate led the Panthers with her second straight double-double while recording career-highs in points, with 20 and rebounds, with 12.
- Diakhate's nine consecutive field goals made is the most consecutive makes without a miss by a player in the ACC since Virginia Tech's Rose Micheaux made nine straight against Wake Forest on Jan. 12, 2025.

- This will be the first ever meeting between Pitt and Scranton.

- In 2025-26, Scranton stands at 3-0, with wins over two ranked Division III teams, SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Cortland.
- The Lady Royals went 29-2 in 2024-25, with a 17-1 record in the Landmark Conference.
- Scranton was crowned the Landmark Conference Tournament Champion, beating Drew University in the semifinals and Catholic University in the finals to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
