PITTSBURGH – Pitt dropped the second game of the series to Syracuse, 12-3, at Vartabedian Field Saturday afternoon. Macy Hamilton went 2-for-5 with a double as the Panthers were held to five hits.

The Orange didn't waste any time getting on the board as they scored three runs in the top of the first inning. Angle Jasso scored from third base on a KK Esparza throw to second base and Vanessa Flores hit a two run home run to cap off the inning.

Syracuse extended the lead, 8-0, after scoring five runs in the second inning off six hits. Madison Knight added one more run in the top of the third with a solo home to center field.

The Panthers came back in the third inning, scoring three runs on two hits. Ana Hernandez drew a walk and Macy Hamilton got the rally started with a double in the right center gap. Cami Compson hit her second home run of the series; a two-run shot to center field to make the score 9-3.

Pitt and Syracuse were each held scoreless through two innings as Adriana Romano held the Orange to one hit through the fourth and fifth innings. Pitt loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth of a Hamilton single and Griggs and Compson walks.

Syracuse added one more run in the top of the sixth and two in the top of the seventh off a Rebecca Clyde two-run home run.

GRIGGS' ON BASE STREAK
Kylie Griggs has reached base in 15 straight games. The junior is batting .333 (13-for-39) with 12 runs scored, three doubles, five home runs, 13 RBI, 11 walks, and five hit by pitches in that span.
