QUICK HITS: Pitt hosts Syracuse for its final ACC home series of the season, April 19-21. The Panthers will hold their first-ever Pride Game on Saturday and will celebrate their senior class after Sunday's contest. The games on Friday and Saturday will air on ACCNX with Sunday's contest airing on the ACC Network with Alex Perlman and Carol Bruggeman calling the action.
HATS OFF TO OUR SENIORS: Pitt will celebrate its four graduating seniors after the game on Sunday. Cami Compson (#7), Caroline Deem (#24), Olivia Stefanoni (#30), and Kat Rodriguez (#33) will all be recognized during the postgame ceremony on the field.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Junior catcher KK Esparza is tied for first in the ACC and ranks 12th in the NCAA with 12 caught stealings.
- Esparza boasts a .310 conference batting average and has five caught stealings by in conference play. In 18 conference games, Esparza has a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) without a passed ball or an error.
- Kat Rodriguez leads the Panthers in batting average (.333), runs scored (21), and hits (41). Kylie Griggs leads the Panthers in OPS (1.073), hit by pitches (8), RBI (25), slugging percentage (.653), is tied for first in home runs (10) and second in doubles (6).
- Kylie Griggs has reached base in the last 13 consecutive games. Griggs is batting .343 (12-for-35) with 11 runs scored, three doubles, five home runs, 12 RBI, nine walks, a .857 slugging percentage, and .531 on-base percentage in that span.
- In 38 games this season, Griggs has recorded 26 hits in 95 at-bats with six doubles, 10 home runs, and 25 RBI. Griggs entered the season with 34 career hits in 172 at-bats with six doubles and five home runs in 81 career games.
- Olivia Stefanoni appeared in all three games at Boston College, and did not give up a run, a walk, or a hit by pitch in her 9.0 innings pitched. Stefanoni also allowed just one hit and issued one walk in 5.0 shutout innings at Ohio State. Stefanoni holds a 1.99 ERA (7 er / 24.2 ip) in her last seven appearances.
MORE THAN A GAME: This season, Pitt Softball partnered with Workscape, Inc. (a local women-owned business) to donate $25 to the Special Olympics of Pittsburgh for each strikeout at home. On behalf of Workscape, the Panthers will donate $850 to the Special Olympics of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh will host the Special Olympics North America Softball Championships alongside the Pittsburgh Pirates, Special Olympics of Western PA, Sports and Exhibition Authority and USA Softball in September.
