Two Panthers Claim Podium Spots at Clarion Open Sunday

CLARION, Pa. – True Freshmen Kade Brown and Matt Marlow each earned podium spots to open their seasons at the Clarion Open Sunday at Tippin Gymnasium.
Brown finished second at 149 in his collegiate debut, dropping to No. 12 Dylan D'Emilio from Ohio State in the championship bout. Brown ended the day with a 4-1 record, including claiming a tech fall victory over Zac Cowen (Bellarmine) in the semifinals.
Marlow earned a third-place finish at 125 and finished the day with a 4-1 record. Marlow's lone loss of the day came in the semifinals against Brendan McCrone from Ohio State. Marlow defeated Landon Bainey from Edinboro, 8-1, in the third-place match to claim a podium spot.
Briar Priest finished in fourth place at 141. Priest won his first three bouts on the day but dropped to Jesse Mendez of Ohio State in the semifinals and fell to Sergio Lemley of Michigan in the third-place match.
The Panthers had 11 wrestlers advance to the Round of 16 and three advance to the quarterfinals and semifinals.
