No. 15 Pitt Rolls Past Duke, 40-0
DURHAM, N.C. – No. 15 Pitt rolled to a 40-0 win over the Duke Blue Devils at Card Gym Sunday morning, picking up six wins by bonus points, including four by technical fall, to improve to 9-2 overall and 1-1 in the ACC.
The Panthers attacked early as they picked up three bonus-point victories in the first three matches. Tyler Chappell got Pitt started with a 9-1 major decision at 125, as Evan Tallmadge and Briar Priest continued the momentum, each earning wins by technical fall at 133 and 141, respectively.
No. 23 Kade Brown battled in a close matchup at 149 and used a late takedown with one minute remaining in the third period to win the bout, 5-3. No. 17 Dylan Evans wasted little time in his technical fall victory at 157, taking a 6-1 lead after the opening period and building a 16-3 lead in the second period. He used a reversal and takedown to secure the 20-4 technical fall.
No. 23 Luca Augustine battled through a scoreless first period with No. 20 Aidan Wallace, using a takedown in the second period to take a 3-1 lead and sealed the 5-1 win with riding time.
Chase Kranitz and No. 11 Mac Stout picked up more bonus points for the Panthers. Kranitz jumped out to an early 7-0 lead with a takedown and four near fall points and built a 15-2 major decision victory at 184. Stout dominated at 197, building a 10-1 lead while accumulating over two minutes of riding time in the first period. He continued the momentum in the second period and won by a 20-3 technical fall in 3:50.
No. 15 Dayton Pitzer closed out the dual with a win over No. 24 Connor Barket at heavyweight. Pitzer attacked early with a takedown in the first period and led 4-2 with 28 seconds remaining in the third period. Barket took the lead, 5-4, with a late takedown but riding-time point for Pitzer tied the match 5-5 to send it to overtime. Pitzer secured the takedown to win 8-5 in sudden victory.

No. 15 Pitt will travel for an ACC road test against No. 12 North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Friday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m.
