
Pitt Travels to Austin for Texas Diving Invitational

PITTSBURGH - The Pitt diving team will make its way to the University of Texas to compete in the Texas Diving Invitational this weekend.
In eight total diving events this season, the Panthers have taken six first place finishes. They have also had three ACC Diver of the Week honors in their first two meets as Mariana Osorio Mendoza was named ACC Women's Diver of the Week after Penn State and Noah Bernard was named ACC Men's Diver of the Week after their Penn State and Georgia Tech meets.
In the two events Pitt had not won this season, both the men and women had second and third place finishes. Osorio Mendoza and Bernard each finished second while Rachel Dickerson and Chase Marafioto both came in third.
Meet Notes: Texas Diving Invitational
- Pitt is one of nine teams competing in the Texas Diving Invitational this weekend, and one of three ACC teams (Miami and Stanford).
Head Diving Coach Katie Kasprzak
- Last year, Kasprzak was named the 2023-24 ACC Men's Diving Coach of the Year. She became the first female coach to earn an ACC Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year accolade.
- Reigning Men's ACC Diver of the Year, Cameron Cash, returns for his senior season following a phenomenal junior year in 2023-24.
- Cash earned All-America (3M), All-ACC honors and qualified for NCAA's in all three diving events last season.
- Was the 2024 ACC Champion in the 3M and Platform.
- Freshman, competing in his first collegiate season.
- 2x ACC Men's Diver of the Week (10/29), (11/5).
- Earned a double win in the 1m and 3m at Penn State in his first collegiate meet.
- Placed first in the 1m and third in the 3m against Georgia Tech in Pitt's first home meet.
- Entering his second collegiate season.
- Placed third in the 3m vs. Georgia Tech in Pitt's first home meet of the season at the beginning of the month, the first podium finish of his career.
- Claimed 10th on 1 meter (632.60), 12th on platform (609.80), and 18th on 3 meter (590.30) at NCAA Zones last year.
- Diver Mariana Osorio Mendoza enters her second year at Pitt.
- ACC Women's Diver of the Week (10/29).
- Earned a double win in the 1m and 3m in their first meet of the year at Penn State.
- Placed first in the 1m and third in the 3m against Georgia Tech in Pitt's first home meet.
- She posted the second highest score for a women's platform dive in Pitt history (296.48) in their meet against Minnesota last season.
- Mendoza would also go on to break the Princeton Pool record on Platform with her first-place finish of (300.85) later in the year.\
- She recently won three medals, including two golds, at the South American Games in her home country of Colombia.
- The junior is beginning her third year at Pitt.
- Placed third in the 3m vs. Georgia Tech in Pitt's first home meet of the season at the beginning of the month.
- Qualified for the NCAA Diving Zone Championships on the 1-meter and the 3-meter last year
- Earned five podium finishes and one win as a sophomore last season
