Swimming & Diving Claims Victory at Michigan Friday

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Pitt swimming and diving program posted wins over Michigan Friday in Ann Arbor. The women's squad was victorious by a score of 135-130, and the men's team posted a 207-61 win.
Giona Lavorini posted two second place finishes for the Panthers and helped the 200-medley relay to a win. Lavorini touched the wall in 1:04.63 in the 100-breaststroke and 2:21.00 in the 200-breaststroke.
The 200-medley relay was made up of Amy Shonk, Lavorini, Allie Witdoeckt, and Anna Wiechertjes. The team posted a time of 1:42.53.
Witdoeckt posted second place finishes in the 200-butterfly and the 100-butterfly while helping the 400-freestyle relay to victory as well.
Lauren McNamara touched the wall first in the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:00.30. She also placed third in the 100-butterfly.
The men won 12 events on the afternoon. Jacopo Nuca and Patrizio Costanza both posted two individual wins for the Panthers.
Costanza tallied wins in the 200-freestyle (1:37.09) and 100-freestyle (45.07). Nuca was first to the wall in the 100-backstroke (48.42) and 200-backstroke (1:49.58).
The 200-medley relay of Nuca, Shea Skarda, Georg Fillippov, and Matthew Karasek earned a win with a time of 1:30.18.
Chenyuan Zhang won the 500-freestyle with a time of 4:32.17 while Fillippov was victorious in the 100-butterfly (49.14).
In diving action, Marleigh daSilva collected a second place finish in the 1-meter with a score of 288.60. She was followed by Jocelyn Brooks in the third and Ayla Debowsky in fourth.
Chase Marafioto, Trevor Kuhn, and Thibault Lede placed second, third, and fourth in the men's 1-meter. Noah Bernard claimed third in the 3-meter. Marafioto and Trevor Kuhn earned second and third place finishes respectively on the platform.
