Pitt Returns Home to Host Clemson Thursday

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's soccer team returns to Ambrose Urbanic Field to host Clemson Thursday, Oct. 3. First kick is set for 6:05 p.m. with Jenn Hildreth and Lori Lindsey calling the action on ACC Network.

Pitt is 14th overall in the NCAA RPI Ranking, while also sitting at No. 15 in the Top Drawer Soccer rankings. Clemson enters Thursday's contest unranked and 45th in NCAA RPI.
THE SERIES
Pitt is 0-8-1 all-time against Clemson, including a 0-2-1 mark at Ambrose Urbanic Field. The Panthers have been shutout six times in the series with four of the matches decided by just one goal.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Clemson is 0-3-0 in ACC play with losses to Virginia Tech (2-1), No. 3 Duke (3-1), and No. 7 Florida State (3-0). The Tigers fell to Auburn (4-0) in their season opener before going 4-0-2 over the next six contests. Clemson plays a physical brand of soccer and ranks in the top five of the ACC in saves (4th- 3.80) and fouls (4th - 6.60). Goalie Nona Reason is third in the conference with 4.38 saves per game. The Tigers have five players sharing the team lead with two goals with Dani Davis (1 G, 4 A) and Kendall Bodak (2 G, 2 A) pacing Clemson with six points, apiece.

The Panthers are 5-7-2 in their past 14 matches against ranked opponents. Pitt is 0-1-2 this season against teams ranked in the top 25 of the US Coaches Poll.

The Panthers are currently ranked in the top-10 in the nation in assists per game (5th - 3.17), corner kicks per game (9th - 7.75), points per game (10th - 8.17), shots per game (3rd - 23.58), shots on goal per game (4th - 10.50), total assists (3rd - 38), and total points (6th - 98).
SCHUPANSKY THE STAR
Sarah Schupansky is having a fantastic senior season leading the country in assists (13) and assists per game (1.08), while also ranking fourth in the country with 23 points (5 goals / 13 assists) and 11th in points per game (1.92). She is just one assist shy of matching her own school record for most assists earned in a single season. Schupansky also ranks fifth in the NCAA in shots on goal per game (2.67) and eighth in shots per game (4.67).
The Pittsburgh, Pa., native matched a program record with four assists in a 6-1 win over Dartmouth (Sept. 5) and became the second player in Pitt history to record 100 career points during the 7-0 win over Mercyhurst.
Schupansky holds the school record for career assists (41) and is chasing Pitt records for career points, shots, and shots on goal.
BREECH ONE WIN AWAY
Junior Ellie Breech matched a program record with her 22nd career victory in goal for the Panthers in the 3-1 win over Louisville. The Mechanicsburg, Pa., native has 107 saves over 41 career contests for the Panthers.
