
Pitt Travels to Raleigh to Meet NC State

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (2-3-0, 0-1-0 ACC) continues their road journey as they head to Raleigh, NC to meet NC State on Friday, Jan. 26. This dual meet is slated for 7 p.m. and will air live on ACC Network Extra.

THE MATCHUP
- This will be the 57th time the Panthers and the Wolfpack have met in program history.
- The Wolfpack currently hold an 11-49 edge to the Panthers.
- Last time the two programs met both programs were competing at their last EAGL Championships in Durham, NH. The Panthers finished in eighth place overall with the Wolfpack securing second place.
LAST TIME OUT
- Pitt put up a hard fight but fell to the Clemson Tigers Sunday afternoon at the Littlejohn Coliseum. With their 194.775 team total, the Panthers posted their highest score of the season.
- Jordyn Ewing was at the top of the lineup on bars, securing a 9.750 along with senior Jah'Liyah Bedminster who also earned a 9.750 for her routine. Freshman Emily Todd tied for first overall this afternoon, posting a routine that scored a 9.825. Pitt finished the first rotation with a 48.625 team score.
- Bedminster posted the highest scored for the Panthers on vault – earning a 9.800.
- Pitt continued to fight as they earned their highest event team score of the afternoon on floor - 49.100. Each gymnast earned a score of a 9.700 or higher for their routines.
- Ewing showed out on floor – earning the highest score for the Pitt on this event with her 9.900. She also secured a 9.750 for her routine on beam.
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
- NC State topped the UNC Tarheels on Friday night, posting a season high 196.225 to UNC's 195.325.
- Chloe Negrete secured the individual event titles on both vault and floor with Katie Harper earned the title on bars.
- Harper earned a 9.850 on bars with Emily Shepard posting a 9.825, Alexis Ortega secured a 9.800 and Elle Hadrick scored a 9.750.
- The Wolfpack earned a 48.975 on vault with each gymnast scoring a 9.750 or higher on this event.
- NC State saw their strongest performances on floor with a team total of 49.200. Negrette posted a 9.925 with her routine and the remainder saw scores of 9.825 or higher.
- The Wolfpack topped the night off with a 49.100 team total on beam. Ortega posted a 9.825 with Negrete anchoring with her 9.800.
- Negrete secured the program's first ACC Gymnast of the Week honor with her performance against the Tarheels.
THE TERRIFIC TODD
- Freshman Todd who secured the first-ever ACC Newcomer of the Week honor (1/9) posted the highest score Pitt has seen thus far this season on Friday evening. She earned a 9.900 for her routine on bars.
- The Bristol, England native tied for the first place title on bars against Clemson (1/21) with her 9.825.
NOTHING BETTER THAN BEDMINSTER
- Senior Bedminster secured Pitt's first-ever ACC Gymnast of the Week honor (1/15) for her performance against the Kent State Golden Flashes.
UP NEXT
- The Panthers will head back to Pittsburgh as they welcome North Carolina in the first home ACC meet. This dual meet will take place on Friday, Feb. 2 and will kick off at 7 p.m.
