No. 21 Panthers Take Down Bucknell in 5-0 Shutout

PITTSBURGH – The No. 21 Pitt Panthers (4-0-0, 0-0-0 ACC) continue the season undefeated after taking down the Bucknell Bisons (2-2-0, 0-0-0) this afternoon. The Panthers left the Bisons scoreless in a 5-0 victory shutout at Ambrose Urbanic Field.

Samiah Phiri started the lead off for Pitt in the 21^st minute after sinking the ball in the back of the net. After five more shots, Sofia Doheny made a clean pass to Ashley Moon who found Anna Bout near the net for Bout to secure the second goal of the afternoon.

With just two and a half minutes left in the half, Sarah Schupansky secured her first goal of the afternoon after Bucknell's goalie tipped it in. The Panthers headed into the locker room with three goals, leaving Bucknell scoreless at the half.

Pitt continued their momentum going into the second half. At the 59^th minute, Deborah Abiodun found an open spot to secure a goal from Keera Melenhorst's assist. This was Abiodun's first goal of her collegiate career. Just under 14 minutes later, Schupansky earned her second goal of the afternoon in a beautiful decision in her penalty kick.

The Panthers didn't just dominate the game in goals on the pitch this afternoon. Pitt held a tough 32-2 shots, 21-1 shots on goal, 9-0 corner kicks and an overall 74% possession total. Ellie Breech made a beautiful save on goal this afternoon, keeping Bucknell scoreless for the Pitt 5-0 shutout.
