- Pitt softball returns to action as the Panthers host the Akron Zips in a midweek doubleheader at Vartabedian Field, April 18. First pitch for the first game is scheduled for 3 p.m. on ACCNX with game two scheduled to start 30 minutes after the completion of the first game.
- The Panthers will host the Akron Zips at Vartabedian Field for the first time since 2007.
- The game will mark two team's 13th all-time meeting. Pitt currently holds a four-game win streak with the series tied 6-6.
- In their last four meetings, the Panthers have outscored the Zips 38-7.
- The Panthers are coming off a conference series with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets that saw a combined 46 runs scored and 50 hits between the two teams.
- Kat Rodriguez set a program record by going 6-for-6 at the plate against Georgia Tech on Saturday.
- Rodriguez is the first DI player to recorded six hits in a single game this season, and the first player to record a six-hit game since 2017 (Sydney Canessa, Fordham). The six-hit game is the first by a Power 5 player in the last nine years.
- For the week, Rodriguez posted a .500 batting average with three RBI and four runs scored in three games.
- Yvonne Whaley tied the single season program record with her 17th double of the season on Sunday against Georgia Tech.
- Whaley leads the nation in doubles (17) and is the toughest batter to strikeout in the ACC, fifth toughest batter of any player in the NCAA. Whaley is batting .442 on the season and has recorded just three strikeouts in 114 at-bats this season.
- Sarah Seamans ranks among the top 10 in the ACC in four offensive categories: batting average (.398 - 5th), on-base percentage (.474 - 10th), slugging percentage (.720 - 7th), OPS (1.194 - 9th). Seamans is also fifth in the ACC with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
