
Panthers Drop ACC Contest to No. 7 Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, MA – Pitt falls to 0-6 in the ACC and 4-9 overall after losing to No. 7 Boston College 17-2 Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium on the Boston College campus.
The first quarter was a competitive one, where the Panther defense held tough in driving rain in Chestnut Hill. Both teams took six shots in the opening frame but the score remained close at 2-0 thanks to one Pitt save and four caused turnovers.
The Eagles used the remaining 45 minutes of the game to show why they sit in the top ten of the national rankings, outscoring the Panthers 15-2, including a 7-0 second quarter.
Three Boston College players recorded five points or more: Mckenna Davis (8 A), Jenn Medjid (7 G, 1 A) and Belle Smith (3 G, 2A). In total, five Eagles scored including four with at least three goals.
Ava Washington and Sydney Naylor scored the lone Pitt goals, while Hannah Van Middelem made eight saves in the net. In her second game of action, junior Maureen McNierney secured four draw controls and a ground ball and Elise Bialecki caused two turnovers on defense.
The Panthers have the midweek off and will play in another ACC matchup next, Friday at North Carolina. First draw is scheduled for 2 p.m.
