Panthers Visit Chapel Hill for Matchup with No. 5 North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, NC – Pitt women's lacrosse is away from home for another ACC road contest with a ranked opponent. First draw against No. 5 North Carolina at Dorrance Field is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday.
The Panthers fell to No. 7 Boston College last weekend in Chestnut Hill. Pitt was unable to contain the Eagles well-balanced offensive attack after a solid first quarter that saw the score sitting at 2-0 BC. Sydney Naylor and Ava Washington scored the long goals and Hannah Van Middelem made eight saves.
No. 5 North Carolina is 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the ACC to this point. The Tar Heels are coming off a rare conference loss, falling to No. 12 Notre Dame 16-12 in South Bend. Two players have over 40 points: Reilly Casey 46 (19G, 27A) and Caitlyn Wurzburger 43 (26 G, 17A). Goalie Alecia Nicholas has 89 saves in net.
In 2022, Pitt lost to No. 2 North Carolina in their first ACC contest as a program 15-5.
