
Pitt Run Rules Memphis, Splits Final Day of Tigers Classic

Adriana Romano, Kendall Brown Combine for No-Hitter Against Memphis
MEMPHIS – Pitt scored 14 runs against Memphis to shutout the Tigers 14-0 Sunday morning during the final day of the Tigers Classic, hosted by the University of Memphis. The Panthers fell to Indiana State 3-0 in the second game of the double header and are now 14-7 on the season.
Pitt 14, Memphis 0
Sophomore transfer Adriana Romano and sophomore Kendall Brown combined for a no-hitter and held a combined perfect game until giving up a walk in the bottom of the fifth. The two pitchers faced the minimum batters against Memphis as Romano earned the win after pitching 3.0 perfect innings. Brown struck out two and gave up one walk in 2.0 innings of work.
The Panthers came alive in the third inning with a bunt single from senior Bailey Drapola. Graduate student Yvonne Whaley and Sarah Seamans hit back-to-back home runs to make the score 3-0. Pitt batted through the lineup, scoring a total of six runs on three hits in the third inning.
Pitt continued the momentum into the fourth inning with a leadoff homer by Drapola. Sophomore Amanda "Tuta" Ramirez hit a single up the middle to score two more runs for the Panther before Pitt loaded the bases on a Kat Rodriguez hit by pitch, an Ana Hernandez walk, and EC Taylor reached on a fielder's choice. Drapola got in the box for her second at-bat of the inning and crushed a grand-slam off the scoreboard in right center to put the Panthers up 14-0.

The Panthers were held to just two hits over seven innings. The Sycamores scored two runs in the bottom of the second off a TeAnn Bringle double and an error from Pitt. Isabelle Henning added an insurance run with a solo home run in the third inning.
Abby Edwards started in the circle for the Panthers, tossing 6.0 innings with seven strikeouts, three runs, two earned runs, and issuing no walks.

- Bailey Drapola hit her first career grand slam and is the first Panther to hit a grand slam since Sarah Seamans hit one against Bowling Green (3/11/22) last season.
- Yvonne Whaley and Sarah Seamans hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning against Memphis, marking the first time two Panthers hit two consecutive homers since Seamans and Morgan Batesole went back-to-back against Toledo on Feb. 26, 2021.
- Pitt scored 14 runs on eight hits, marking the most runs scored by the Panthers since defeating Boston College 15-12 on May 4, 2019.
