SOUTH BEND, IN – The Pitt women's basketball team (8-16, 1-12 ACC) battled all night long on the road against #10 Notre Dame but fell, 69-63, Thursday night at the Purcell Pavilion. Senior
Dayshanette Harris led the Panthers with a season-high 20 points in the loss.

Harris was the best player on the floor all night long for Pitt as she went for a season-high 20 points, her 10^th career 20-point game, on 6-for-8 from the floor and 7-for-8 from the free throw line. Gabby Hutcherson finished off her night with 10 points while Liatu King had eight points and six rebounds in the loss.

FIRST QUARTER

The Irish took the early 6-2 lead before the Pitt offense found their rhythm as Channise Lewis and Dayshanette Harris knocked down back-to-back triples to tie the game, 8-8, at the first media timeout.
Out of the media timeout, Gabby Hutcherson made a driving layup and Emy Hayford netted back-to-back contested layups to give Pitt the 14-13 lead through 10 minutes.
The Pitt defense held the Irish to just 27% shooting and four turnovers in the opening quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

The Irish opened the second quarter on a 12-0 run to force the Panthers to call a timeout trailing 25-14 just over four minutes into the quarter.
Out of the timeout, Pitt found some momentum as they went on a 9-0 run which was powered by four points from Harris, three by Liatu King and a jumper by Lewis to make it 25-23 in favor of the Irish with four minutes to play in the half.
Harris and Amber Brown finished off the scoring in the half for Pitt as they entered the locker room trailing Notre Dame 33-28.
Harris led the Panthers with 10 first half points while the Pitt defense forced seven Notre Dame turnovers.

THIRD QUARTER

Pitt came out strong in the third as Maliyah Johnson opened the scoring with a layup and Hutcherson netted five straight to give the Panthers the 35-34 lead just over two minutes into the quarter.
Notre Dame responded with six straight but Avery Strickland knocked down a deep triple to make it 40-39 in favor of the Irish at the third quarter media timeout.
The Irish pushed their lead out to 47-43 late in the quarter but Brown finished off a layup and free throw to send the game to the fourth with Pitt trailing by one, 47-46.

FOURTH QUARTER

Pitt pushed their lead to three early in the fourth as Harris finished off a pair of free throws to make it 50-47.
The Irish came battling back and gained the 56-52 lead but Harris netted a floater and Hutcherson buried a triple to make it 58-57 in favor of Notre Dame with six minutes to go.
Notre Dame was just too much down the stretch as they pulled away late to secure the 68-63 home victory.

Pitt finished the game shooting 44% from the floor while the Irish shot 43.1% in the win.
Pitt was outrebounded 41-27 while the Irish finished the game with 25 second chance points.
The Panthers bench netted 36 points in the loss while Notre Dame scored just eight.
