
Panthers Set to Host No. 17 Wake Forest Sunday Afternoon

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team (10-2-1, 3-1-1 ACC) are set to welcome No. 17 Wake Forest (8-1-3, 2-1-2 ACC) to Ambrose Urbanic Field on Sunday, Oct. 8. This ACC matchup is set to start with a 1 PM first kick and will be aired live on ACC Network Extra.

SCOUTING WAKE FOREST
- The Demon Deacons secured a draw against Syracuse on Thursday evening at SU Soccer Stadium.
- Wake Forest was down by two at halftime but found a way to notch two goals and secure the draw.
- Junior midfielder Anna Swanson and sophomore forward Hannah Johnson were the two goal scorers for Wake Forest.
- The Demon Deacons outshot Syracuse by 29-3 with 14 shots on target.
RECAPPING THURSDAY'S VICTORY
- The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team defeated the No. 22 Duke Blue Devils for the first time in program history Thursday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field, 2-1.
- Going into the locker room, the Panthers held the edge in shots (10-3), shots on goal (3-0), corner kicks (6-1), and overall possession (62%).
- Coming back for the final 45 minutes of play, the Panthers were determined. Just over a minute and a half into the second half, Samiah Phiri posted a deep goal off of her left foot, putting Pitt on the board first.
- Just moments later, Anna Bout slipped the second goal into the back of the net from a quick touch from Schupansky.
- Duke was able to place their only goal on the board with a penalty kick by Kat Rader.
- Pitt completed the night on top not just in goals. The Panthers outshot the Blue Devils 20-7, placed 8-1 shots on goal, secured 8-2 corner kicks and posted overall 57% of the possession.
