
No. 18 Panthers Set to Meet No. 8 Clemson Sunday Afternoon

PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team (12-3-2, 5-2-1 ACC) is set to meet the Clemson Tigers (12-1-3, 6-1-1 ACC) in final road test of the regular season, Sunday afternoon at Historic Riggs Field. This ACC matchup is set for a 2 PM first kick and will be aired live on the ACC Network.

THE SERIES
- Sunday's matchup will be the ninth time the two programs have faced each other with the Tigers holding the 7-0-1 edge on the Panthers.
- Last time out, the Panthers drew against the Tigers in a scoreless, 0-0, match to complete the 2022 regular season. This tie clinched a spot for the Panthers in the 2022 ACC Women's Soccer Championship.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- The Tigers took down Louisville Thursday evening after posting three goals in the second half – marking Clemson's 11th shutout on the season.
- The matchup remained scoreless up to the 70th minute of play. Clemson's Renee Lyles put the Tigers on the board first in the 71st minute after a few clean passes from her fellow teammates.
- Under ten minutes later, Sami Meredith posted her sixth goal on the season to secure the second goal for the Tigers.
- Lyles completed the evening with her second goal of the night and the Tigers third after beating the Cardinals defenders and sending the ball out of the keeper's reach.
RECAPPING THURSDAY NIGHT'S TOP-20 MATCHUP
- The No. 18 Pitt Panthers fought hard until the end, but fell to the No. 1 Florida State Seminoles, 3-2, Thursday evening at Seminole Soccer Complex.
- Leaving just under a minute on the board, Katie Zailski put the Panthers on the board first off of an assist by Ashton Gordon. This is Zailski's first goal on the season and Gordon's third assist.
- The Panthers headed into the locker room with the 1-0 lead – outshooting the Seminoles 8-3 and holding a 4-1 lead in corners.
- Pitt held a strong dominance coming into the second half, posting three shots within a minute of play. The Seminoles equalized the board in the 63rd minute off of a header from a corner kick.
- Florida State then created a 3-1 lead after posting two goals in under three minutes.
- Pitt still held a dominant front on the Seminoles, continuing to create scoring opportunities. At the 81stminute, Samiah Phiri cut Florida State's lead down to one after completing a goal on her penalty kick. This is Phiri's 9th goal on the season.
- The Panthers held the edge in shots (16-10), saves (1-0) and corners (7-3).
