PITTSBURGH - The Pitt men's and women's cross country squads will race at the Virginia Invitational on Friday (Sept. 16) at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va. The Pitt men will race in an 6k at 9:30 a.m. and the women's 's 5k race follows at 10:15 a.m.
The Panther's first away meet of the season will be held at Panorama Park located at 333 Panorama Rd, Earlysville, VA 22936 where they will be looking to maintain their momentum after a successful opener at Schenley Park.
"The meet this weekend will provide two big opportunities such as an opportunity to see the ACC course, even though it is not the entire distance it will allow our team to get a very good feel for it and to see some strong early season competition with UVA and Duke," stated coach Brad Herbster.
The Pitt women's line up will include Ellen Baker, Mary Borkoski, Emily Brown, Gianna Cagliola, Sadie Carey-Tharp, Anna Cohen, Reagan Flannery, Winnie Incorvaia, Emily Jobes, and Caroline Rusinski.
"The women continue to improve fitness, but also really working with each other in the tough parts. This will be important this weekend as we will need Emily Brown and the entire group to team up and compete with purpose and effort," stated Herbster.
The Pitt men's line up will comprise of Ethan Feinstein, Damian Frausto, Trey Gannon, Quintin Gatons, Peyton Geehrer, Luke Henseler, Ethan Maher, Luke Miller, Jack Miller, Sam Otis, and Finn Walsh
"The men have really put together a good training block and have the ability to compete against solid individuals and time. Jack Miller has been looking strong and we will return Luke to the group racing this weekend," said Herbster
