PITTSBURGH – Pitt baseball (26-19, 12-11) claimed a program-record fourth ACC home series victory of the season by splitting a doubleheader (3-2 win and 15-5 loss) against Duke (20-26, 9-15) Sunday at Charles L. Cost Field. The Panthers have five overall ACC series wins this spring, one off the program record set last year.
GAME ONE
Pitt snagged the lead with two runs in the second inning. Bryce Hulett and Jack Anderson both drew walks to start the frame. Sky Duff knocked in Hulett with a single through the right side. After the bases were loaded from a walk by CJ Funk, a sacrifice fly from Brock Franks allowed Anderson to tag up easily.
The game-winning run came in the fourth inning. With two outs, the bases were loaded on a Funk walk, Franks single through the right side and Jordan Anderson hit by pitch.
GAME TWO
A combined 10 runs for Duke in the third and fourth inning proved to be the difference.
Jeffrey Wehler led off the game with a solo homer to left center, his second of the season.
Duff knocked Tatem Levins in on a two-out single to centerfield in the fifth inning.
The Panthers' other three runs came in the seventh inning. Hulett led off with a single through the left side. After Duff walked, Dom Popa laced an RBI-double to left field. Pinch-hitter Tommy Tavarez followed with his own double to left field to bring home both Duff and Popa.
