Pitt Drops First Game of Series vs. Boston College

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt softball team fell, 4-2, against Boston College in the series opener Thursday evening at Vartabedian Field.
NEWS & NOTES
Both teams could not record a run through three innings as both pitcher's limited base runners. Redshirt freshman Dani Drogemuller tallied five strikeouts and one hit through the first three innings. Pitt (13-20, 1-13 ACC) scored the first run off the bat of Pavlick, who hit a solo home run to straight centerfield for her fifth of the season.
Senior Yvonne Whaley made it a 2-0 game with a single to right in the bottom of the fifth, scoring freshman Kylie Griggs. Boston College (18-19, 4-12 ACC) took the lead in sixth inning as a home run and an error scored three runs. The Eagles scored one run the following inning with a single, making it 4-2 into the bottom of the seventh.
Pitt put runners on second and first with two outs, but a deep fly out down the left field line from senior Sarah Seamans ended the game.
Drogemuller recorded 10 strikeouts, the fourth game this season with 10+ strikeouts.
