Pitt Heads to Syracuse for Three Games

PITTSBURGH – The Panthers travel north and take on Atlantic Coast Conference school Syracuse for three games beginning with a double-header Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. All games will be live on the ACCNX.

- The Panthers head north for three games in two days in Syracuse, N.Y., against the Orange. The series now includes a double-header Saturday with the finale Sunday afternoon.
- Pitt is 2-3 in true road games and 1-2 in road conference games.
- The Panthers are coming off a 7-2 home victory over Robert Morris Wednesday evening.

- Sophomore Cami Compson leads the team in batting, registering a .316 batting average with 24 hits, 3 doubles, a triple, 5 home runs, 18 RBI and 8 walks. She holds a .579 SLG% and a .391 OB%.
- Senior Katlyn Pavlick is batting a team-best .412 with 7 hits, 2 doubles, a homer and 5 RBI against ACC competition. She is 5-for-9 with a double and 3 RBI in her last three league games.
- Redshirt freshman Dani Drogemuller recorded her 10th 7+ strikeout performance of the season against Robert Morris. She has 102 strikeouts on the year, ranking sixth in the ACC.
- Junior Kayla Lane is batting .583 (7-for-12) in her last five games. She holds a .316 batting average with a double, homer and 3 RBI in conference play.
SCOUTING REPORT
- Syracuse begins the weekend 17-12 overall and 1-8 in ACC play. The three-game series at Skytop Softball Stadium is the first of the season for the Orange.
- The Orange have won the previous four meetings against the Panthers, all of which came last season. Prior to 2021, the series is split 5-5 in the last 10 meetings.
- Syracuse is fifth in the ACC in batting average (.301). Neil Casares-Maher (#11) is 17th in the conference in batting average, hitting .376 with 35 hits, 7 doubles, 6 homers, 23 RBI and 27 runs.
- Summer Clark (#16) is 7-1 in the circle, holding a 3.15 ERA in 46.2 innings pitched. She has 46 strikeouts and has held opponents' batting averages to .172.
- The Orange are 39th in the country and sixth in the ACC in fielding percentage (.972).
- Angel Jasso (#28) is fifth in the league with 11 stolen bases. She has three in conference action, averaging 0.33 per game against ACC teams.
STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
- Pitt enters the weekend with the 6th toughest schedule in the country and toughest schedule in the ACC.
- Of all teams - past and future - Pitt's cumulative opposition losses totals 453, the lowest among any team in the nation.
- So far this year, Pitt has faced receiving votes Texas A&M once, No. 3/3 Florida State three times, receiving votes Notre Dame three times and No. 5/5 Virginia Tech twice.
- It is scheduled to play nationally-ranked Clemson and Duke three times each later this season.
