Pitt Defeats Robert Morris at Home, 7-2

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt softball team tied a season-high with 12 hits as it defeated Robert Morris, 7-2, in a non-conference midweek matchup Wednesday evening at Vartabedian Field.

Robert Morris (16-10) scored the game's first two runs in the top of the first as back-to-back singles brought in one run each. Pitt (12-14) cut the lead in half as freshman Amanda "Tuta" Ramirez hit her first career double down the left field line, scoring junior Kayla Lane.
In the top of the fourth, Drogemuller struck out three of four batters faced for her eighth strikeout of the game and 100th for her career. Drogemuller joins Savannah King (104 – 2014) and Kayla Harris (117 – 2016) as pitchers to record 100+ strikeouts in a season since joining the ACC.
The Panthers' bats got hot midway through the game as it scored three runs each in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings. Pitt tallied four hits in the fourth and five hits in the fifth to lead 7-2.
Graduate student Ally Muraskin came on in the seventh and sealed the victory for the Panthers, snapping a seven-game losing streak.
Senior Sarah Seamans went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk while Ramirez finished 2-for-2 with two RBI. The Panthers stole four bases against the Colonials, second-most this season. It is the eighth time Head Coach Jodi Hermanek the Panthers have stolen four bases in a single game.
Pitt next travels to Syracuse for three games this upcoming weekend. The series begins Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. with all games live on the ACCNX.

- Redshirt freshman pitcher Dani Drogemuller recorded 10 strikeouts in six innings of work. She became the 3rd pitcher since Pitt joined the ACC in 2013-14 to record 100+ strikeouts in a single season.
- Pitt hit a season-high five doubles, the most in a game since 2018. Eight different Panthers recorded a hit.
- Three different players registered two RBI, while three different players recorded two hits.
- It was the first time since 2014 the two crosstown schools met. The victory is the second-straight in the series for the Panthers.
