Pitt Drops the Second Game of the Series at Virginia Tech

The Panthers got on the board in the game's first frame. Kyle Hess led off with a double that bounced over the right field wall. Hess advanced on a groundout from Jeffrey Wehler. After Ron Washington, Jr. reached first base on catcher's interference with two outs, Sky Duff knocked in Hess with a single to left field.
The Hokies scored seven runs in the first three innings with an RBI-groundout and wild pitch in the first, consecutive doubles with two outs for a run in the second and a leadoff homer, two-out RBI-double and two-run homer in the third.
The Panthers scored their first run in the fifth inning on a leadoff homer to left field from CJ Funk, his first collegiate homer.

Virginia Tech put the game out of reach with nine runs in the next frame.
Brock Franks led off the eighth inning with a triple to right field and scored on a passed ball. The Panthers' final run came in the last inning on a Brock Franks' RBI-fielder's choice.
The rubber match is Sunday at 1 p.m.
