
Panthers Complete Regular Season in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The University of Pittsburgh (10-10, 4-3 EAGL) gymnastics team posted a road score of 195.375 in the team's final meet of the regular at No. 16 Ohio State (8-3, 4-1 Big Ten) versus No. 10 California (7-3, 5-2 PAC-12) Friday night at the Covelli Center.
Junior Ciara Ward tied for the individual title on vault with a season-high 9.850.
Freshmen Sidney Washington and Hallie Copperwheat placed second and third overall respectively with scores of 39.175 and 38.975.
The Panthers finished in third place behind OSU's 197.100 and Cal's 196.875.
BEAM
The Panthers started the night on beam, where all six Panthers earned at least a 9.750. Senior Katie Chamberlain led off with a 9.775, followed by senior Kiley Robatin and freshman Jordyn Ewing with 9.750s. Washington kicked off her pursuit of the all-around with a 9.825, followed by fellow rookie Copperwheat who earned a team-high 9.875. Junior Lauren Beckwith ended the rotation with a 9.775. The Panthers combined for a team score of 49.000, entering the second rotation in second place.
FLOOR
Senior Olivia Miller started the Pitt lineup tying her season-high 9.825 for the fourth time this season. Ewing earned a 9.725 in the No. 2 spot, followed by junior Erin Hutchison who recorded a 9.775. Copperwheat scored a 9.800 and Washington earned the team's second 9.825 – tying with Miller for the Panthers' highest score in the event. Sophomore Nay'yarrah Winder made her collegiate floor debut in the anchor position and scored a 9.550. The team's 48.950 gave Pitt a running score of 97.950 at the halfway mark.
VAULT
The Panthers' third rotation was highlighted by Ward, who earned a season-high 9.850 and the highest score of the event for Pitt in the No. 4 position. Ward also tied for the individual title. Miller led off with a 9.725, followed by junior Christina Weiss who made her collegiate vault debut with a 9.700. Copperwheat recorded a 9.750, Chamberlain picked up a 9.825, and Washington rounded out the rotation also with a 9.750. The team's 48.900 gave the team a 146.850 heading into the final rotation on bars.
BARS
In the final rotation, Chamberlain earned a team-high 9.800 in the No. 4 spot. Washington recorded a 9.775, Ewing and Hutchison picked up 9.700s, and Copperwheat earned a 9.550 in the anchor position. The Panthers finished with a final team score of 48.525.
