COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Valentine's Day proved to be extra sweet for the University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (6-6, 2-2 EAGL) as the Panthers secured multiple program records in a tri-meet with No. 6 Minnesota at Maryland Monday afternoon at the XFINITY Center.

The Panthers shattered their team bars program record with a 49.400 en route to their No. 4 team score in program history at 196.450. Pitt placed second behind the host Terrapins (196.700) but came out ahead of No. 6 Minnesota (196.2250).

Senior Katie Chamberlain tied the Panthers' individual program record on bars with a career-best 9.950. She became the second Pitt gymnast ever to achieve the score on bars, after Samantha Salyers did so nearly 23 years ago to the day, on Feb. 13, 1999.

BEAM – 48.950
Lauren Beckwith led the Panthers in the first rotation by earning a season-high score of 9.850 on beam to place third. Kiley Robatin took fourth with a 9.825, followed by Hallie Copperwheat with a 9.800. Chamberlain and Jordyn Ewing rounded out scoring for Pitt with a 9.775 and a 9.700, respectively. Pitt totaled 48.950 heading into the second rotation.

It was a strong second rotation for Pitt as two freshmen contributed career-high scores on floor. Washington tied for second place with a career-best 9.900, and Ewing followed in sixth at 9.875. Washington's score marked a team-best mark for the 2022 season. Olivia Miller recorded a 9.800, followed by Copperwheat with a 9.775. Beckwith and Erin Hutchison each posted a 9.750. Pitt's 49.100 on floor gave the team a two-rotation score of 98.050.

Chamberlain's career-high 9.825 was the top score for Pitt on vault, and she took fourth place. Copperwheat, Washington and Ciara Ward each had scores of 9.800, and Miller rounded out the top marks with a 9.775. The Panthers' three-rotation score totaled to 147.050 following a 49.000 on vault.

Pitt finished the meet by shattering the team bars record, totaling 49.400. The score topped the previous record of 49.275 set twice during the 2018 season, including the EAGL Championship meet. Chamberlain became the second Pitt gymnast to ever record a 9.950 on bars, tying the program record set by Samantha Saylers nearly 23 years ago to the day, on Feb. 13, 1999. She is the only Pitt gymnast to record the score during the 21st century. All four other gymnasts to score on bars earned career-high marks, including Copperwheat (9.925, tied No. 2 score in program history), Ewing (9.875), Washington (9.825) and Kailey Gillings (9.825).
