
Pitt Shatters Team Bars Record, Posts Season-Best 196.450

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Valentine's Day proved to be extra sweet for the University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (6-6, 2-2 EAGL) as the Panthers secured multiple program records in a tri-meet with No. 6 Minnesota at Maryland Monday afternoon at the XFINITY Center.
The Panthers shattered their team bars program record with a 49.400 en route to their No. 4 team score in program history at 196.450. Pitt placed second behind the host Terrapins (196.700) but came out ahead of No. 6 Minnesota (196.2250).
Senior Katie Chamberlain tied the Panthers' individual program record on bars with a career-best 9.950. She became the second Pitt gymnast ever to achieve the score on bars, after Samantha Salyers did so nearly 23 years ago to the day, on Feb. 13, 1999.
BEAM – 48.950
Lauren Beckwith led the Panthers in the first rotation by earning a season-high score of 9.850 on beam to place third. Kiley Robatin took fourth with a 9.825, followed by Hallie Copperwheat with a 9.800. Chamberlain and Jordyn Ewing rounded out scoring for Pitt with a 9.775 and a 9.700, respectively. Pitt totaled 48.950 heading into the second rotation.

Pitt's 49.100 on floor gave the team a two-rotation score of 98.050.
