
All-Around Effort Guides Pitt Past Eastern Ky., 7-1

LEESBURG, Fla. – The Pitt offense picked up where it left off last game, totaling 12 hits while redshirt freshmen Dani Drogemuller shut down Eastern Kentucky in the circle, allowing one hit and striking out eight in a 7-1 victory Saturday afternoon in the Northern Lights Invitational.
NEWS & NOTES
Eastern Kentucky (0-3) scored its lone run of the game in the top of the fifth via a passed ball. The Colonels lone hit off Drogemuller came via a single down the right field line in the same inning.
In the bottom of the fifth, Brunson recorded her third hit of the day with a single to right and Seamans followed that up with a home run to left center to make it a 7-1 ballgame. Drogemuller, who had three strikeouts through five innings of work, got five Colonels to strike out swinging in the final two innings to bring her tally to 11 on the year. It was the third game of her career with 7+ strikeouts in game, with the previous two 10 strikeout performances.
Pitt closes out the Northern Lights Invitational tomorrow with two Big Ten schools in Iowa at 9 a.m. and Penn State at 11 a.m.
NEWS & NOTES
- Drogemuller recorded the third complete game of her career, allowing one hit, four walks, no earned runs and striking out eight. She held a no-hitter through 4.2 innings.
- Senior Sarah Seamans hit Pitt's first home run of the season with a two-run shot to left centerfield. She hit a team-best 13 homers in 2021.
- Freshman Haylie Brunson registered three hits with one double, one run and an RBI. The Mount Pleasant native is 5-for-8 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs in her last two games.
