Boston College tallied the game's first run in the fifth inning, scoring on a passed ball with two outs.
Pitt produced four unanswered runs starting with a pair in the next inning. Sky Duff led off with a hit by pitch and scored on a double by Nico Popa. After Popa advanced to third base on a groundout by Kyle Hess, he jogged home on a double down the left field line by Ron Washington, Jr.

The Panthers got another run in the seventh inning. Jackson Phinney was plunked by a pitch with one out. After Jordan Anderson singled to centerfield, Duff knocked in Phinney with a double to left center.

David Yanni added an insurance run with a one-out solo homer to right field in the next inning, his team-leading 10th of the year.

- Mitch Myers (4-4) started and went 7.1 innings with one run, four hits, three walks and four strikeouts.
- Jordan McCrum picked up the save by recording the other five outs and allowed no runs, one hit and three walks with three strikeouts.
- Duff and Anderson, who drew the team's lone walk, were the only Panthers who reached base twice.
- The homer was Yanni's 26th of his career, tying P.J. Hiser (2002-04) for seventh-most in program history.
- Yanni also moved into eighth all-time in career total bases (319) ahead of Danny Lopez (316, 2007-10).
