Pitt Concludes Regular Season with No. 6/9 Florida State

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh softball team welcomes nationally ranked Florida State for four games this weekend in its final regular season

- The Panthers conclude the regular season against nationally ranked Florida State with four games starting Friday, May 7.
- Playoff implications are on the line for Pitt, who currently sits in 10th place in the ACC standings. The top-10 teams at the end of the regular season earn a bid to the ACC Tournament May 12-15 in Louisville, Ky.
- Pitt will be honoring its senior class before Saturday's second game. Walker Barbee, Morgan Batesole, Brie Horrell, Brittany Knight, Hunter Levesque, LoLo Sanchez and Chandler Walter will all be honored.
- Before Saturday's first game, the Panthers will also recognize and honor Team Impact sister Rylee DiTullio. Rylee was drafted by the Panthers prior to the 2019 season and has been a member of the Panther team since.
- The series starts Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a double-header Saturday at 1 p.m. Game two of the double-header will begin approximately 30 minutes after game one.
- The series concludes Sunday, May 9 at 12 p.m.
- All games will be broadcast on the ACCNX.
- Freshman Cami Compson has flexed her muscles this season, hitting 10 home runs and registering four doubles, 27 RBI, 72 total bases and a .615 slugging percentage. She also leads the team with a .406 on-base percentage.
- The Westerville, Ohio, native batted .500 (6-for-12) in Pitt's sweep of UNC, totaling seven RBI, two homers, 12 total bases, four walks and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
- Compson went 5-for-13 with two homers, four RBI, four runs and 13 total bases against Louisville. She registered a team-high .923 slugging percentage for the weekend.
- Compson went 5-for-13 with two homers, four RBI, 11 total bases and recorded a .846 slugging percentage at Georgia Tech.
- Compson went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI in game one of its double-header Saturday, Mar. 13 at Georgia Tech.
- Compson totaled six RBI in one game Feb. 26 at Mercer, going 4-for-4 with one double, one homer and run. Her six RBI rank tied for second in the ACC for most in a single game this season.
- Speedster sophomore EC Taylor has shown her quickness on the base paths in her first season as a Panther.
- Taylor leads the team in hits (45) and runs (28), is tied for third in doubles (5) and is third in the ACC with 27 stolen bases.
- Her four stolen bases Sunday, Feb. 21 against Virginia were the most in a single-game in school history, surpassing the previous mark of three most recently held by Reba Tutt (2011).
- Taylor stole three bases against Toledo Feb. 27, becoming the first Panther since Reba Tutt (2011) to have three stolen bags in a game.
- Taylor had four hits, a double, four RBI and three stolen bases at the FAU Parent's Weekend Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla.
- Taylor went 6-for-15 with seven runs, one double, one RBI and stole two bases at Georgia Tech.
- Taylor stole two bases against Louisville April 5, marking the sixth time this season she has stolen two or more bags in a game.
- Taylor had a career-high four hits in Pitt's final game against North Carolina Sunday, Apr. 18. She finished the four game series 10-for-14 (.714) with seven runs, four RBI and a .733 on-base percentage.
- Taylor went 7-for-13 (.538) against Boston College, hitting a triple with two RBI and two stolen bases. She recorded a .600 on-base percentage for the weekend.
- The Seminoles lead the all-time series 18-1, with the four games this weekend being the 20th-23rd meetings of the series.
- Pitt's lone win in the series came April 6, 2018 with a 1-0 decision on the road.
- The last time these two teams faced each other was in ACC Championship Final May 12, 2018. Florida State won that contest on a walk-off home run, 5-4.
- Florida State enters the game with a ranking of 6/9 and in second-place in the ACC with an overall record of 36-8-1 and a league mark of 24-4-1.
- The Seminoles have proved to be one of the best fielding teams in the country, recording a .976 fielding percentage and .53 double plays per game, good for 21st and seventh in the nation, respectively.
- Florida State has been dominate in the circle too, posting 15 shutouts (ninth in the country) and a 1.62 ERA (10th in nation).
- The Seminoles are led offensively by freshman Kalei Harding, who is hitting a team-best .303 with 37 hits, nine doubles, three triples, three homers, 31 RBI and 20 runs scored. She also has eight stolen bases and 17 walks on the year.
- Redshirt sophomore pitcher Kathryn Sandercock holds a 20-1 record in the circle this season, tallying 82 K's in 114 innings pitched. She has a 1.04 ERA and has thrown six complete games in 28 appearances.
