WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Pitt (22-19, 16-17) dropped the regular season-finale 10-2 at Wake Forest (20-27, 10-22) Saturday afternoon at David E. Couch Ballpark.

Pitt got on the board first in the fourth inning with back-to-back home runs. Kyle Hess led off with a homer to right field, his fifth of the year. Nico Popa followed with a shot over the batter's eye in centerfield, his ninth of the year.

Wake Forest took the lead in the sixth inning with a solo homer and two-run homer. The Demon Deacons produced their other seven runs the next inning.

Pitt heads to Charlotte for the ACC Tournament as the No. 10 seed and is in a pool with No. 3 NC State and No. 6 North Carolina. The two games against the Wolfpack and Tar Heels are to be next Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday with game times and dates to be announced Sunday by the league.

Popa moved ahead of Brad Rea (1999-02) for the sixth-most games started (192), Scott Folmar (2000-03) for the seventh-most games played (199) and Kevan Smith (2009-11) for the 10th-most total bases (314) and tied Tom Cashman (2003-04) and Gregg Lamanti (1985-88) for the 12th-most homers (19) in program history.
David Yanni moved ahead of Peter Parise (2004-07) for the seventh-most total bases (334).
Stephen Hansen started and went 5.1 innings with two runs, six hits, one walk and five strikeouts.
Corey Sawyer threw 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, retiring all four starters faced.
Sky Duff went 2-4 to extend his hitting streak to 11 games and reached base streak to 19.
Yanni reached base a team-high three times with a double, the 50th of his career, and two walks.
