Panthers Fall to NC State, 2-0, Friday Evening

RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of Pittsburgh softball team fell to conference opponent NC State, 2-0, Friday evening at Dail Softball Stadium.
It was a pitcher's duel early, as junior starting pitcher Abby Edwards allowed only one hit and struck out one on 66 pitches through five innings. NC State (18-11, 11-11 ACC) scored the first and only two runs of the ball game in the bottom of the sixth off a two-run single from Randi Farricker.
Both teams totaled three hits on the evening, while Pitt (10-22, 5-17 ACC) left three runners on compared to NC State's six. Senior Morgan Batesole finished 1-for-3 with a triple, her second of the season.
The Panthers are back on the field tomorrow for a double-header with the Wolfpack beginning at 12 PM. Both games will be televised on the Regional Sports Network.
