Pitt Travels to NC State for Four Games Starting Friday

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh softball team travels to Raleigh, N.C., for four games with ACC opponent NC State starting Friday evening.

- Pitt travels to NC State Friday, April 9 for four games with the Wolfpack.
- It is the first road contest for the Panthers since Mar. 21 at Virginia Tech. Pitt is 5-6 in true road contests this year.
- The series begins Friday evening at 6 PM at Dail Softball Stadium on the ACCNX.
- Saturday consists of a double-header starting at 12 PM and game two beginning at 2:30 PM. Both games are broadcast on the Regional Sports Network.
- The series finale starts Sunday at 5 PM on the ACC Network.
- Speedster sophomore EC Taylor has shown her quickness on the base paths in her first season as a Panther.
- Taylor is tied for the team lead in hits (27) and is tied for third in runs (16), tied for first in doubles (5) and leads the ACC in stolen bases with 24. Her stolen base count is tied for third in the nation and her .77 stolen bases per game is 14th in the country.
- Her four stolen bases Sunday, Feb. 21 against Virginia were the most in a single-game in school history, surpassing the previous mark of three most recently held by Reba Tutt (2011).
- Taylor stole three bases against Toledo Feb. 27, becoming the first Panther since Reba Tutt (2011) to have three stolen bags in a game.
- Taylor had four hits, a double, four RBI and three stolen bases at the FAU Parent's Weekend Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla.
- Taylor went 6-for-15 with seven runs, one double, one RBI and stole two bases at Georgia Tech.
- Taylor stole two bases against Louisville April 5, marking the sixth time this season she has stolen two or more bags in a game.
- Freshman Cami Compson has flexed her muscles this season, hitting seven home runs and registering three doubles, 17 RBI, 51 total bases and a team-best .638 slugging percentage. She also leads the team with a .404 on-base percentage.
- The Westerville, Ohio, native went 5-for-13 with two homers, four RBI, four runs and 13 total bases against Louisville. She registered a team-high .923 slugging percentage for the weekend.
- Compson went 5-for-13 with two homers, four RBI, 11 total bases and recorded a .846 slugging percentage at Georgia Tech.
- Compson went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI in game one of its double-header Saturday, Mar. 13 at Georgia Tech.
- Compson totaled six RBI in one game Feb. 26 at Mercer, going 4-for-4 with one double, one homer and run. Her six RBI rank tied for second in the ACC for most in a single game this season.
- NC State leads the all-time series 10-8.
- Since 2017, the Panthers have won four of the last six meetings.
- The last time these two teams met, Pitt won 7-5 at home Mar. 4, 2018.
- NC State enters the weekend series 17-11 overall and 10-11 in ACC play. They are winners of three straight and have a 15-6 record at Dail Softball Stadium this season.
- The Wolfpack enter the series with one of the most powerful lineups in the ACC, with four girls in the top-15 in slugging percentage. As a team, NC State's slugging percentage of .548 ranks first in the conference and 24th in the nation.
- Redshirt junior Randi Farricker has the highest slugging percentage in the ACC (.957) and has a .319 batting average with 22 hits, 22 RBI, six doubles and 19 runs. She has 12 home runs on the year, which leads the league and is 16th in the country.
- Redshirt sophomore Sydney Nester leads the Wolfpack in the circle. In 17 appearances, she holds a 5-6 record with a 4.00 ERA, four complete games and 71 strikeouts. Her strikeout total is 8th in the conference.
- The Panthers travel to NC State for four games beginning Thursday, April 8 at 6 p.m.
- The two teams play a double-header Saturday beginning at 12 p.m., and conclude play Sunday with one game at 5 p.m.
- Friday's game will be on the ACCNX, with Saturday's double-header being broadcast on RSN. Sunday's contest will be live on the ACC Network.
