Pitt Drops Series Finale to Louisville

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh softball team fell to Louisville, 9-5, Monday afternoon at Vartabedian Field.
NEWS & NOTES
Pitt (10-21, 5-16 ACC) scored its first run of the day off the bat of senior Chandler Walter, who hit a pinch-hit RBI single to left center, scoring Levesque. Taylor singled to left field in the next at bat, scoring redshirt junior Jada Crittendon and making it a 6-2 ballgame.
The Cardinals scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning, making it a 9-2. The Panthers got one back as graduate student Walker Barbee singled to left, scoring junior Sarah Seamans. Compson homered to right center in the bottom of the seventh, cutting Louisville lead to four (9-5) but Pitt couldn't tally any more runs.
Compson finished 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run and a walk. Taylor finished 1-for-3 with a RBI, run and two stolen bases.
The Panthers are back on the field Friday, April 6 for the first of four games against NC State in Raleigh, N.C. Start time is set for 6 p.m. on the ACCNX.

- Freshman Cami Compson hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning, her second homer in as many games. The outfielder now has seven on the year, tied for first on the team.
- Senior Hunter Levesque hit a double and tallied one run for the game. Levesque finished with three extra base-hits – a triple and two doubles – for the series.
- Sophomore EC Taylor stole two bases Monday, her sixth time this season with two or more stolen bases in a game. Taylor now has an ACC leading 24 stolen bases.
