PITTSBURGH – The Pitt track and field teams will head to Charlottesville, VA this weekend for the Virginia Challenge at Lannigan Field. The two-day meet will feature a total of 48 schools with multiple nationally-ranked squads in the field.

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt track and field teams will head to Charlottesville, VA this weekend for the Virginia Challenge at Lannigan Field. The two-day meet will feature a total of 48 schools with multiple nationally-ranked squads in the field.
HOW TO FOLLOW
- Live results for the Virginia Challenge can be found HERE.
- Action will begin on Friday for the Panthers at 11:00 am as they will have a trio of student-athletes, Antoinette Gyles, Shannah Mallett and Foluke Olujide-Ajibade, competing in the women's hammer throw.
- Track events will open up at 3:00 pm with Nikki Scherer, Kaneisha Raymond and Ilse Steigenga competing in the women's 100m dash.
- Indoor ACC heptathlon champion Felix Wolter will compete in his first outdoor decathlon this weekend starting on Friday at 12:00 pm with the 100m dash followed by long jump, shot put, high jump and 400m dash. He will wrap up the 10-event gauntlet on Saturday with the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500m run.
- Saturday's action will begin at 1:00 pm with Lydia Bottelier competing in the women's high jump and five Panthers competing in the women's 100m hurdles.
- Events on Saturday will conclude with the women's 4x400m relay at 4:30 pm followed by the men's 4x400m relay at 4:45 pm.
- There will be a total of 48 schools competing in the Virginia Challenge including nine ACC programs.
- The field will include four nationally ranked teams including #10 Tennessee (Men), #14 Florida State (Women), #17 Duke (Women), #23 NC State (Women).
- The Panthers had a strong weekend at the Tennessee Relays against the toughest competition they've faced this outdoor season. Pitt notched two victories, eight top-10 marks, 17 outdoor PR's and 10 top-3 finishers.
- Senior Ade Jones-Roundtree had a big weekend for the Panthers as he collected the victory in the 400m dash with a personal record time of 46.72 seconds, the sixth fastest time in program history. He then took home second place in the 200m dash in a season-best time of 21.08 seconds before concluding his weekend with a second place finish in the 4x400m relay.
- Nikki Scherer also had her first victory of the season in the 400m dash as she posted a personal record time of 53.75 seconds, the eighth fastest in program history and third fastest in the ACC this year. She then posted a fourth place finish in the 200m dash with a season-best time of 24.24 seconds.
- Senior Ally Brunton continued her strong outdoor campaign as she finished in fifth place in the 1500m run with a new personal record time of 4:21.40, the second fastest time in program history.
- Nick Wolk posted a PR time of 3:43.95, fifth fastest in program history, in the 1500m run to claim third place while Josh Higgins crossed the finish line in seventh place in 3:46.34, the seventh fastest in program history.
- In the 3000m steeplechase, freshman Emily Brown had an impressive showing as she took home third place in 10:36.53, the third fastest time in the event in program history.
- In the men's long jump, Pitt had two post top-10 marks as Kollin Smith posted a PR leap of 24-5 (7.44m), the fourth best in program history, while Felix Wolter had a PR jump of 23-10.75 (7.28m), the sixth best in program history.
- The Panthers have a week off before they head to Lexington, KY for the Kentucky Open on Friday, Apr. 30 through Saturday, May 1.
