No. 17 Pitt Hosts Lipscomb in Midweek Game

PITTSBURGH – No. 17 Pitt baseball (17-10, 12-9 ACC) faces Lipscomb (11-16, 4-8) Tuesday at 3 p.m. The two teams were originally slated to play each other Wednesday as well, but that game was canceled due to travel conflicts for the Bisons.

- Pitt recorded its highest-ever ranking in program history on March 22, garnering the No. 14 slot in the Baseball America Poll.
- The Panthers were ranked in the top-20 all five major polls on that date: DIBaseball.com (No. 15), Collegiate Baseball (No. 18), USA TODAY Sports Coaches' Poll (No. 18) and National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (No. 20).

LAST TIME OUT-SWEEP OF NO. 15 MIAMI
- Pitt swept then-No. 15 Miami for the first time with 12-6, 6-4 and 12-5 victories.
- The Panthers became just the second team in ACC play to sweep Miami and Florida State in the same season (Clemson in 2006).
- The Panthers plated 30 wins off 39 hits, including 12 extra-base hits and five homers.
- Pitt scored nine of the last 10 runs in Friday's game in its last three trips to the plate to secure the victory, including a five-run sixth inning.
- In the only close game, Pitt scored in each of the second, third and fourth innings and held on for Saturday's win.
- Trailing 4-0 in the fourth inning, the Panthers tied it up with a four-run frame and ran away with a seven-run sixth inning that feature a two-RBI single by Nico Popa, sac fly from Kyle Hess and a Bryce Hulett grand slam.
- The Panthers' bullpen did their job to secure the Panthers' three victories, allowing just two runs through 9.2 innings of work.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT-LIPSCOMB
- The Bisons are coming off being swept at Liberty and have won just six of their last 20 games.
- Lipscomb has been one of most aggressive teams on the base paths, ranking 31st in the nation in steals (41).
- Senior infielder Haddon Adams has been Lipscomb's top hitter with a team-high .514 slugging percentage, .384 on-base percentage, eight doubles and 14 extra-base hits.

- Lipscomb won the only meeting 4-2 at home on Feb. 25, 2007.
